Logistics
If you’re using GPS to navigate to our location, we recommend using Google Maps. Apple Maps can take you to an alternate location. Click here to get directions through Google Maps or enter our address into Google Maps directly: 62129 Highway 40, Cochrane, AB.

At this time we do not have a shuttle/bus service to the facility but can put you in contact with a number of service providers who can help accommodate you.
Yes, there is plenty of complimentary on-site parking available at The Crossing.
The address that takes guests to the front gate of The Crossing at Ghost River is: 62129 Highway 40, Cochrane, AB. For driving directions, guests may enter The Crossing at Ghost River into Google maps for assisted route finding. This is the address that you can use on your event invitations.
Our Event Manager will be your contact for the duration of the event.
Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 11am. Please contact us in advance if you plan to check in later in the evening.

Booking, Payments & Cancellations
We are pleased to offer individuals, couples, and families the opportunity for a peaceful getaway at The Crossing. Book online or contact us to book a rejuvenating getaway at our comfortable and charming inn, with private ensuite bathrooms and beautiful antiques in every room.
All of our indoor and outdoor venues are available to book individually for single-day (non-overnight) use for up to 60 people, with the option to book out the whole property for your exclusive use.
Booking out the entire property for your exclusive use is an option, but it comes with a fee and must be arranged in advance. Please contact us if you would like to book out the property for your exclusive use.
A minimum non-refundable deposit is required based on the package selected at the time of booking to guarantee the venue. We may not be able to accommodate a change after this date, or additional charges may apply.
Your contract will outline your individual payment schedule, and you will provide a credit card authorization for our records. Payment can be made via cash, cheques, Visa or MasterCard.
Your initial deposit is non-refundable. Cancellation of your event, regardless of when it is made, will result in the forfeiture of your initial deposit. Cancellation inside of 21 days will result in the forfeiture of all deposits made in addition to the billing of any expected charges, based on your anticipated number of attendees. If you have made an online booking, please click here to modify or cancel your reservation.
We understand that you may have changes to the number of individuals attending day meetings or overnight retreats, as well as those in attendance for meals. Final guest numbers are required, in writing, 7 days prior to your event, otherwise additional fees may apply.
Yes. Most of our rooms have king or queen sized beds, and we have one bedroom with two queen beds.
The Crossing staff works as a team to offer you the best possible service! A service charge is incorporated into your booking rate. We do not encourage individual tipping, and ask that you speak to one of the managers if you would like to recognize an individual or the team.
Dogs are allowed on The Crossing at Ghost River property. We know that pets are part of the family too, so we’ve designated certain rooms as “Dog Friendly”. Availability is limited and must be approved and organized in advance when you make your booking. An additional charge will apply. Please contact us for more information.
The Crossing is a wonderful place for a family getaway, and children are welcome. Please note that children are not permitted to wander the grounds unsupervised by an adult. There are multiple hazards for young children including water sources, cliffs and wild animals.
Food & Beverage
Yes. Please inform us of any special dietary needs, including allergies and preferences, when confirming your meal selections during the booking process so that we can plan ahead to ensure alternative options are available.
The Crossing at Ghost River has a liquor license for the Deere & Remington houses. Guests can also bring their own alcohol with a corkage fee being applied.
Yes, you may bring your own alcohol, however all items must be purchased from an Alberta Liquor store, no home brews are permitted. Proof of purchase must accompany the alcohol you bring to The Crossing. You are required to obtain a liquor license from the AGLC website. Please note that a corkage fee is charged to all guests when alcohol is served, whether they are drinking or not.
All menus for private events are pre-set and can be customized based on your needs. The menus are provided as part of the planning process.
The Crossing requires food choices to be made at least 21 days prior to your function, along with a submission of approximate number of expected guests. Final guest numbers are required, in writing, 7 days prior to your event.
For evening functions, last call occurs at 11:30 PM and music stops. The event concludes at midnight and all guests are asked to return to the main buildings for the remainder of the evening.
All food must be provided by The Crossing. Outside food is not permitted during set up, clean up, or during the function itself, with the exception of wedding cakes, cake pops, candy or cupcakes.
No, the Crossing does not supply wedding cakes. You may bring your own wedding cake, cupcakes or cake pops.
We ask that delivery details for the wedding cake are provided prior to arrival of the cake at The Crossing so that we can arrange for appropriate storage. We do not charge for cutting, plating and serving of your wedding cake. The Crossing accepts no liability for damage, set-up, care, or repair of the wedding cake.
Yes. All food and beverage services are subject to gratuity of 18% and GST of 5%, which is included in the fees at the time of booking. No additional tipping is required.
Yes. If you are hosting a dinner all guests are required to stay overnight.
Unfortunately not. In order to comply with public health regulations, removal of remaining food by guests is prohibited and cannot be packaged to take away at the end of the evening.
Individual stays at The Crossing are all-inclusive, with a delicious meals prepared by our on-site culinary team and served in our dining room.

The Crossing is located on 145 acres of beautiful land, but there are no marked and maintained trails on the property. There is an unpaved road down to the river. Guests are permitted to explore the property, but please note that it is at your own risk.
Yes, there is a small gym in Deere House with a treadmill, spin bikes, free weights and exercise balls.
Our guests’ safety is important to us. There are animals in the area, such as deer, elk, skunks, foxes, and occasionally bears, so we do encourage guests to be cautious. We offer guests bear spray, bear bells, and flashlights. We suggest that guests do not go hiking alone, and ‘buddy up’ when going out further into the property.
Yes, there is cellphone reception and wireless internet on the property. Certain carriers may provide better reception at different points on the property. All of our buildings are equipped with complimentary wifi.
An iron and portable ironing board are available to guests. Please let one of our staff members know if you need an iron during your stay, and they will be able to provide it to you. At this time we do not offer laundry service to our guests.
You may smoke outside only in designated areas and any cigarette butts found on the grounds may incur an additional fee.
The following are provided at no extra cost with our venue rentals. Please speak with your booking coordinator about any equipment needs for your booking.

There are rustic outhouse bathroom facilities at the River House and no running water.
The River House is an amazing venue, however, the screened in Pavilion is 700 meters away from the main buildings and requires walking to and from. The gravel road to the River House is fairly steep and requires suitable outdoor footwear. We do not allow vehicle traffic to the River House and guests will be required to walk to and from the River House before and after the celebration. The Crossing will provide transportation to and from the River House for the Wedding Party and people with mobility issues.
You may bring your own décor. The use of nails and glue to hang decorations is prohibited. All decorations must be placed and removed without leaving damage. The group is responsible to provide, set-up, and remove their own decorations. For overnight events, all décor must be removed from the facility the next day by 11:00 AM. For single-day events, all décor needs to be removed following the event.
Yes, although the amount of space available for a dance floor depends on the number of guests and the floor plan for your event.
Yes, you may have music at your event. You may bring your own music or arrange for a DJ, for indoor entertainment. Sub-woofers are not allowed, bass must be kept to a minimum and music volume cannot exceed 85-90 decibel. Entandem fee (government fee) is collected when music is played. Live bands are not allowed. No amplified music is allowed in any of outdoor spaces including patios. Music must end no later than 11:30 PM.
We understand that weather can change event plans. We have beautiful indoor event spaces that you may arrange to use as an alternative, as long as you let us know the day before the event or sonner.
Out of respect for our pristine environment, throwing of rice, popcorn, confetti or any other items is not permitted, and neither are fireworks, firecrackers or the like.
No, The Crossing does not offer TVs or phones in our accommodations.
